About this piece: Witness of Loss is looking at trains – the end of trains in the United States. For some reason, passenger transportation in America, unlike systems in other fine continents, just withered and shriveled down to a few little intra-megalopolitan nubs. Trains are that last vestige of forward movement with a bit of a side to side rock that has been with humans since the animal-drawn cart. Only music can rock us that way, not transportation.
