About this piece: Man’s Glassy Essence started out on a windy day in Avon, Indiana. A building that was under construction was having itself a tough time. The white plastic was tearing, ripping and snapping in the strong wind. All this against unnaturally blue skies peopled with fluffy, architypal clouds. I find buildings in distress to be compelling. The title derives from a quote from Charles Sanders Pierce that was used as a title of a book on Pierce by Ed Moore. Don't ask me how I got from building construction to semiotics texts. I just looked at the print and the title jumped up out of memory.
